She’s old, frail and been through more than most in life but Cleo, a 20-year-old ginger cat, still has hope for a happy ending for her remaining years.

The elderly feline, believed to be Scotland’s oldest rescue cat, was found living in horrific hoarding conditions, trapped in a house piled high with rubbish.

Now after 25 days in our care at our Aberdeen Animal and Rehoming Centre, she’s finally ready to find the loving home she deserves.

Described as a quiet gentle soul, Cleo spends most of her day snuggled in bed or perched high up on our cat shelves, watching the world go by.

But despite her tough past Cleo has plenty of love to give.

Staff at the centre said: “Cleo is a lovely old girl and deserves to have a restful forever home to see out her final days.

“Due to her past she’s not used to being picked up but loves a head scratch and will fully lean into your hand.

“Like most older cats Cleo doesn’t have many teeth left so is on a wet food diet only. But despite her previous appalling home’s conditions, she uses her litter tray with no issue.”

Cleo has had a full health check and has been given all clear from the vets and is ready to find that perfect retirement home.

She would be happiest being the only pet in the home but could possibly live with older children if they know to give her space when she needs.
