{"id":869751,"date":"2025-03-20T14:11:48","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T14:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/?p=869751"},"modified":"2025-03-20T14:11:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T14:11:49","slug":"scotlands-oldest-rescue-cat-searching-for-a-loving-home-after-a-life-in-squalor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/news\/scotlands-oldest-rescue-cat-searching-for-a-loving-home-after-a-life-in-squalor\/","title":{"rendered":"Scotland\u2019s oldest rescue cat searching for a loving home after a life in squalor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>She\u2019s old, frail and been through more than most in life but Cleo, a 20-year-old ginger cat, still has hope for a happy ending for her remaining years.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>The elderly feline, believed to be Scotland\u2019s oldest rescue cat, was found living in horrific hoarding conditions, trapped in a house piled high with rubbish.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>Now after 25 days in our care at our Aberdeen Animal and Rehoming Centre, she\u2019s finally ready to find the loving home she deserves.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>Described as a quiet gentle soul, Cleo spends most of her day snuggled in bed or perched high up on our cat shelves, watching the world go by.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>But despite her tough past Cleo has plenty of love to give.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>Staff at the centre said: \u201cCleo is a lovely old girl and deserves to have a restful forever home to see out her final days.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>\u201cDue to her past she\u2019s not used to being picked up but loves a head scratch and will fully lean into your hand.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"block-wrapper my-5 core-paragraph\"><div class=\"container-xxl\"><p>\u201cLike most older cats Cleo doesn\u2019t have many teeth left so is on a wet food diet only.
