The centre admits almost 5,550 wild animals on average per year, and around 70% of these are wild birds!

To cope with the large volume of house martins coming in, and their specific needs, we are in need of various items. These include ceramic house martin bowls to replicate their nests in the wild, rope to hang around the flight room for enrichment, vitamin drops to help keep the birds healthy whilst in our care and live waxworms.

These items can be purchased from the centre’s Amazon wish list or via any other online retailer offering direct delivery to the centre.

Centre Manager, Chris Hogsden, said: “We care for a wide range of birds in the spring time.

“One of the best ways we can prepare them for returning to the wild is by providing enrichment which encourages their natural behaviours and instincts.

“House martins often live in built-up areas but they build their nests under the eaves of houses out of lumps of mud or clay. They have a rough, stone-like appearance which is similar to ceramic bowl replicas we can purchase.

“We are so grateful for any support so that we can continue to provide the best possible care for the birds at our centre.”

Items can be purchased from the centre’s Amazon Wishlist or from another retailer and delivered directly to Scottish SPCA National Wildlife Rescue Centre, Fishcross, Clackmannanshire, FK10 3AN.
