{"id":3912,"date":"2023-05-30T09:58:18","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T09:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/news-new-food-bank-joins-pet-aid-service\/"},"modified":"2025-01-15T11:08:12","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T11:08:12","slug":"new-food-bank-joins-pet-aid-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/news\/new-food-bank-joins-pet-aid-service\/","title":{"rendered":"New food bank joins Pet Aid service"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"paragraph-4628\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--content-with-summary paragraph--view-mode--default\">\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-content-with-summary field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<h2 class=\"h4\">A food bank in Blantyre has become the 42nd food bank across Scotland to join our Pet Aid service.<\/h2>\n<p class=\"x\">\n<p class=\"x\">Linked to a current Hamilton food bank, The Nazarene Hall in Elm Street, Blantyre will have Pet Aid boxes available which include essential food and care supplies for animals in need.<\/p>\n<p>Our Pet Aid service provides crucial support to people who are struggling with the cost of caring for an animal, and demand for the service has skyrocketed due to the continuing cost-of-living crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Pet Aid co-ordinator Carrie Giannelli said: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to have another food bank join our Pet Aid service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPet Aid provides support to those who&nbsp;need it most, to keep people with their beloved pets at this very challenging time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year, calls to our&nbsp;animal helpline from people looking to sign over their pets trebled. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people who call our helpline don\u2019t want to give up their animal but feel they have no choice. Through Pet Aid, we can offer these people vital support and keep people and their pets together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo-one should have to give up their pet because they are unable to afford the items they need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re struggling with the cost of pet food we can put you in touch with your nearest local food bank offering our Pet Aid service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Isobel Graham, Hamilton District Food bank Manager said: \u201cWe are delighted to receive these much needed donations of pet food from Pet Aid&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This support helps people in our community feed their pets when they themselves are struggling to put food on their table&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">Anyone who has concerns about an animal, or needs some advice and support, can call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
