{"id":3663,"date":"2024-04-16T13:23:48","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/news-ferrets-found-abandoned-in-a-lay-by-in-fife\/"},"modified":"2025-01-15T11:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T11:06:11","slug":"ferrets-found-abandoned-in-a-lay-by-in-fife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\/news\/ferrets-found-abandoned-in-a-lay-by-in-fife\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrets found abandoned in a lay-by in Fife"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"paragraph-5461\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--content-with-summary paragraph--view-mode--default\">\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-content-with-summary field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<h2>We are appealing for information after two ferrets were found running loose in a lay-by in Fife.<\/h2>\n<p>Two members of the public spotted the ferrets while driving along the B9157 Invertiel Road between Dalgety Bay and Kirkcaldy on Sunday 14 April and called our animal helpline.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nAnimal rescue officer, Lea Bowskill said: \u201cOn Sunday afternoon we received two calls from members of the public who were driving past a layby and spotted ferrets running loose amongst rubbish in a layby near Kirkcaldy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne male ferret was very friendly and appeared in good health. &nbsp;The other male ferret was very thin with obvious abscesses on his body and tail. &nbsp;They were both taken to a vet to be checked over but sadly the poorly one had to be put to sleep due to his condition and was in obvious pain and distress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe remaining ferret is now receiving care and attention from our staff at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese ferrets were left in a dangerous situation and we would urge anyone unable to care for their pets to contact our confidential animal helpline for support and advice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anyone recognises this ferret or has any information surrounding his circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are appealing for information after two ferrets were found running loose in a lay-by in Fife.
